I'm getting very close to the end of my ripple. I got a lot done over the weekend, due to the long hours in the hospital. This is where I was last week:
I had just finished one row of the dark purple (on left in picture above).
Now this week, I am a lot farther along.
As you can see in the picture above, I only have 7 colors left including the rest of the pale pink.
Doesn't it just look so scrumptious and blankety? I'm really loving my blanket and I'm so happy it is for me.
I also have a ton of the little squares completed. I'm actually going to do more than I need because I am doing all of the leftover colors that are not pink or purple. I wasn't going to put pink into a little baby boy blanket, but I was veto-ed on purple by multiple people including the mother to be. I think I'll actually have enough leftover from the baby boy blanket to do a baby girl blanket. Not sure for who, but I'll have all of the pink and purple leftovers, plus some extra squares of the blues, greens, and oranges.
I can't wait until these two are done. The baby blanket needs to be fully completed by May 6th for the baby shower. I made a schedule a while back and I have been sticking to it or doing better. I gave myself a full week to put together the little squares.
I know someone told me before that I was brave for not doing join as you go, but honestly I don't think I can handle join as you go. I need to fiddle with color placement. I enjoy that part, when all the squares are done and you can arrange and rearrange them until they are just so. Join as you go is so final.
So just like last week I am linking up with Tami's Amis, Small Things, Frontier Dreams, and Ambassador Crochet.
Also, I wanted to officially say it here, I am participating in Blog Week next week. Now I have to really do it!

ps. Thanks for all of the lovely comments on my previous post. They really mean a lot to me. I believe that I am pretty good at staying positive, but everybody has some times when they are down and your comments made me feel better.

Long Weekend....so tired
So for all of you long time followers you might know that my boyfriend is undergoing treatment for colon cancer. We had a long hard weekend. He started having a fever on Wednesday night and it turned into being admitted to the hospital all the way until Sunday. Somehow he has pneumonia. Its under control now, but it was a scary few days.
I usually keep my blog a very happy place, skipping over most unpleasantness, but I met a woman this weekend leaving the hospital one night. She was leaving a cancer support group and we got to talking. Everything Dave has been going through other people have gone through or are currently going through, so I think its just good to talk about it.
His journey since December has not been an easy one. Nothing has gone smoothly. Chemo side affects have been exponentially worse that predicted resulting in ER visits. His body doesn't react to things the way the doctors are predicting. For example, we found out this weekend that he is allergic to benedryl. WHO IS ALLERGIC TO BENEDRYL?! That's what doctors give you to help you when you are allergic to something else.
We have learned to be very vocal. We have to tell the doctor what we want. We had to tell them, "Change his anti-nausea medication, it isn't working," because they didn't adapt quick enough. Don't get me wrong, Dave has amazing doctors, but he really has been reacting to everything very differently than expected.
My dad keeps telling us that it is called "practicing medicine" for a reason. There's going to be trial and error, but we need to be very vocal when telling them something doesn't work.
I'm so tired lately and my headaches are coming at me full force.
I did get a ton of crocheting done this weekend due to the long hospital hours. Here's a sneak peek.
Its a little blurry, but it shows some of the new colors.
I'm going to try and go to bed early tonight.

WIP Wednesday - My Ripple and Baby Blanket
Okay, so, the last week you saw I had just started a yellow row.
I've managed to add a few sets of stripes.
Its really starting to look like a blanket.
Its so big all folded up, but earlier in the week when I was still working on the pink row, I layed it all out on my couch.
Its so big already but I'm not close to being done! I want to be able to lay down on the couch and have my toes covered and have it come all the way up to my neck!! On a side note, are you interested in seeing the blankets at the end of the couch in full? I made them in college. I did not tie dye them myself, but I'd be happy to show them to you if you want to see them.
I have made a ton of progress on the little square baby blanket!! I have 96 squares done! I'm over half way done.
I think this picture below is a little more clear, but it only has one red square.
I can't remember if I've already showed this to you, but this is the yarn I am using to put these squares together.
So what are you working on? Don't forget to check out everyone else over at Tami's Amis, Small Things, Frontier Dreams, and Ambassador Crochet.

ps. Thanks again to everyone who participated in my giveaway! I really enjoyed it.

FO Friday - More Kitchen Towel Toppers
I have casually been making more hanging kitchen towels.
The Easter ones are gifts and the other ones (two floral, one polka dotted) are listed on my Etsy site! The last Easter one is a little different because my grandma does not have a single handle in her whole kitchen. She only has knobs in her kitchen, so I made hers a bit different.
Don't forget to check out all the other FOs at Tami's Amis, Natural Suburbia, Wisdom Begins In Wonder.

WIP Wednesday - Ripple, Baby Blanket, and Knit Vest
Thanks for all of the feedback on my Ripple. It seems that no one is sick of my constant updates!! So I'm going to keep the weekly updates coming. I have a few more stripe done since the last time you saw it, but first, I wanted to show you my dining room table. Every once in a while, okay, all the time, it is used as my current project table. Below you can see my ripple, my knit vest, and my little square baby blanket.
I think I'll save my ripple for last. Here's my knit vest update.
I am SO CLOSE to starting the arm shaping. I feel like as soon as I get this back piece done that the front piece with fly by.
My little square baby blanket has become my mobile project. I work on a square here and there as much as I can. My deadline for this blanket is May 6th! Here are the squares I have done so far.
A couple skeins of the color I'm using to put these together have come in. It is a nice rich brown.
Now, here is where I am with my ripple.
I'm linking up with Tami's Amis, Simple Things, Frontier Dreams, and Ambassador Crochet.
