Wedding - Bachelorette Weekend

I have an amazing sister and amazing friends.  I just have to start with that.  My sister managed to book us a cabin at Seven Springs Mountain Resort about an hour and a half from Pittsburgh for my Bachelorette weekend last February.

We had an awesome view from our front door.

A few of us went snow tubing the first night.

As a side note, the cowl I'm wearing that I wear ALL THE TIME skiing/tubing was a gift from the lovely Sara, scf1270 on ravelry.  It is the Burberry Cowl here.

The rest of the first night involved good food, good drinks and Cards Against Humanity.  I can't ever remember laughing that hard.

The next day some went to the spa, some stayed in the cabin and knit and some, including me, went skiing.

I love skiing and I got my good friend, Dianne, to get back into it.  Let's hope we get a lot of skiing in this year!

The second and last night we went to the bar at the base of the mountain, The Foggy Goggle.  Apparently, and I was very excited to find this out, it was 80's weekend.  The music that night was awesome!

These photos were stolen (with permission) from various facebook pages.  I didn't actually take very many photos.  I always forget.  It's terrible.

I had a great time and can't say how great my friends are.  I hope I can have weekends like this more often without it being my bachelorette party!

Wedding - Engagement Photos

I figured a good place to start to catch up on my blog-less year would be a wedding related post.

We got out engagement photos done last year at the end of September.  Our photographer, Leeann from Leeann Marie, Photographers, was/is amazing.

I love our city and it was nice to take photos with the city and the background.  Pittsburgh has so much to see and so many cool areas.  This was the first part of wedding planning that made it seem like, "Hey! We're going to get married!"  It was exciting and fun.  There were a ton of photos that I loved, but I was trying to not have picture overload.

Weekend Activities

This weekend was surprisingly eventful.  We had all sorts of running around on Saturday which included getting the puppies a haircut.  Then, we had the opportunity to go to the Pen's game.

Hockey games in Pittsburgh are always fun.  We were given company tickets since we both work for the same company.  It was a very new experience for us.  There was a special parking space we got to use and we got passes to go up and see the company suite.

This was the view from the company suite:

and this was the view from our seats:

We did not win, boo!  We did have a great time though.  It is always nice to do something together.  Dave is going back to work soon.  His radiation is wrapping up.

On Sunday we managed to get our puppies to one of the malls for their pet night with Santa.  I've done it every year since we got Toby.  This year's picture is the best in my opinion.

Here are our previous years, I had to add a border on 2014 myself because I must have forgotten to download it with the border.

I love my puppies.  Santa kept saying they were so well behaved (HA! We fooled him!).

This week is going to be amazing.  I can feel it.  I've taken days off around Thanksgiving so I'll have a nice long weekend starting on Wednesday.

I'm going to see if I can start putting together some posts from this past year that I missed.

WIP Wednesday

What a way to get back into blogging!  I have plenty of finished items to show you from this past year, but I'll start with a work-in-progress Wednesday.

My main project that I've been working on is Garden House Baby Blanket.  I chose colors a little different than the pattern.  I picked 3 greys and a pink (although my dad claims it is purple not pink) of Berroco Vintage DK.

The colors are Smoke (2106), Cracked Pepper (2107), Charcoal (2189), and Elderberry (2159) from left to right.

Since I need to plan everything, I played with color placement in Paint and I settled for using the pink in the middle and using Smoke at the end as well as the beginning.  The pattern originally called for a 5th color.  By using Smoke at the end and the beginning I use each color equally.

I have finished two of the strips so far and I'm working on the 3rd during Dave's radiation treatments.

I'm loving it and it is turning out larger than I thought.  So it was originally intended to be a gift to my niece, but I might keep it and maker her something else.  My sister loves it and really wants it for her baby, but if she pesters she definitely will not get it (hint hint Missy).

So there's my first WIP Wednesday in over a year!  What are you working on?

Over a Year this Time

Well my blogging hiatus was over a year this time.  A lot can happen in a year.

  • Dave and I got married on May 30th.

  • Dave's cancer came back this past summer, so we've had 2 more surgeries and we've started radiation.
  • My nephew has gotten cuter and cuter.  My sister sent this video when Dave was in the hospital.

  • My niece was born when I was on a business trip.  Yes, that's the blanket I made her.  There'll be more on that later.
  • I've got plenty of knitting things to share.
I'll get started on sharing some of the things that happened this year.  I'm going to try to be back!  We'll see how it goes.
