WIP Wednesday

What a way to get back into blogging!  I have plenty of finished items to show you from this past year, but I'll start with a work-in-progress Wednesday.

My main project that I've been working on is Garden House Baby Blanket.  I chose colors a little different than the pattern.  I picked 3 greys and a pink (although my dad claims it is purple not pink) of Berroco Vintage DK.

The colors are Smoke (2106), Cracked Pepper (2107), Charcoal (2189), and Elderberry (2159) from left to right.

Since I need to plan everything, I played with color placement in Paint and I settled for using the pink in the middle and using Smoke at the end as well as the beginning.  The pattern originally called for a 5th color.  By using Smoke at the end and the beginning I use each color equally.

I have finished two of the strips so far and I'm working on the 3rd during Dave's radiation treatments.

I'm loving it and it is turning out larger than I thought.  So it was originally intended to be a gift to my niece, but I might keep it and maker her something else.  My sister loves it and really wants it for her baby, but if she pesters she definitely will not get it (hint hint Missy).

So there's my first WIP Wednesday in over a year!  What are you working on?

WIP Wednesday

It has been a while since I partcipated in WIP Wednesday.  I've really been working on the same few projects.

I don't have an updated photo of my English Garden Hoodie, but I've actually reached the underarms.  I've started on my first sleeve as well.

I started a little hoodie for Owen.  The pattern is R &R Hoodie by Tanis Fiber Arts.  I think it looks so cute, and I actually can't wait to do the zipper.  This is what I have done so far.

I'm using Caron Simply Soft in color Autumn Red.  I figured it was best to use up my old acrylic stash on Owen, so my sister can just throw it in the wash and not worry.

My most recent project is a baby blanket I started for a woman at work.  She sits behind me in our new pods and she's really sweet.  She's having a little boy, so I decided on these colors out of Vanna's Choice.

The colors are Silver Blue, Taupe, Linen, White, and Dusty Green.  Only after I took this photo did I realize that they matched my chair and pillows perfectly.  I might have to later use this yarn for something for my living room.

I've been speeding along and this is what I have done so far:

Thirteen stripes in about 3 days!  I got the bulk of the stripes done on Sunday and then three each on Monday and Tuesday.

I'm going to use the color Dusty Blue for the border.

Well, what are you working on?  I've linked up with Tami's Amis.

WIP Wednesday

I'm working on the same three projects as last week (Hoodie, Dad's blanket, Royal Jazz).  In the last week though, I've only made progress on two.

I've been very excited to work on my first sweater, English Garden Hoodie (Everything Nice Hoodie pattern).  I finally got beyond the pockets!  It was so exciting to join the pockets to the rest of the fabric.

Now I just have to work about 5 more inches in pattern before I have to pause for the sleeves!

I've started the second quadrant for my dad's blanket and I'm already on the 6th square.

I'm trying to stay on a schedule of about a 1/2 a square a day.  We'll see how that goes...

I'm still considering my Royal Jazz a current WIP, but I didn't touch it this past week.  It is easy TV knitting though, so we'll see how it goes for this week.

WIP Wednesday

Currently I have 3 projects that I'm working on consistently.

My Dad's Blanket has been on the needles for quite some time.  Recently I made a lot of progress.  I've even put myself on a schedule.  I have one quadrant finished (yes quadrant).

I needed to block it because my gauge has changed in the past 2 years.  I've apparently become a much looser knitter as I've gained experience.

I have just over two squares done on the next quadrant.

The next project I have been working on is called Royal Jazz.  It is the pattern Shawl That Jazz.  I'm using Blue Moon Fiber Arts Twisted in color Royal.

The yarn is just amazing.  It is so pretty!!  I'll be using two skeins for this pattern.  I wound one of them while I was in Maryland for Maryland Sheep & Wool (where I purchased the yarn).

The ball was as big as my head!!  This pattern is very easy.  In fact it is my TV knitting.  It is just garter back and forth.  I know the finished product will be totally worth it!

The color is most true in the yarn picture.  The colors are very bold and bright.  I love them.  In the last picture you can see my third project peeking in at the top of the photo.

It is my first sweater!!!  I'm calling it my English Garden Hoodie and the pattern is Everything Nice Hoodie.  I've had this yarn in my stash for a while.

The yarn is Araucania Tocanao Multy in color English Garden (426).  I think this yarn is now discontinued.

This is a bottom up sweater.  I've almost got to the point where I can join the pocket fronts with the rest of the sweater.

I'm really excited about this sweater.  I really think this is something I would wear a lot.

WIP Wednesday!

Woohoo!  I remembered to do a WIP Wednesday!  I only have two projects that I'm working on right now.  Both projects are ones that I've pulled out from being snoozed.

First up is my Mini Granny Square Scarf.  I got the inspiration two years ago from http://cocorosetextiles.blogspot.com/.  Here scarf is shown in here post here.

My colors have changed slightly, but here's where I am:

Its nice to have a project that is very portable.

The next project I have been working on is my Dad's blanket.  Hear that Dad?!  I worked on it!  You still won't get it though for another couple of years.  You're just too tall!

My gauge has changed as I have been working on this.  It should block out fine though.

I've linked up with Tami's Amis!

I'll try to show you my finished items on Friday.

WIP Wednesday

Lately I've been really gung-ho with getting Owen's Little Square Blanket finished (I had to look up how to spell gung-ho and I learned a bit of history, wikipedia page here).

I am almost finished with it!  I ran out of yarn on the border.  So I'm going to have to wait until I can get to the yarn store on Saturday.  The shower isn't until August 11th, so I'll be done in plenty of time.  Here's a sneek peek:

I still have a whole bunch of ends to weave in!  Thankfully they are just from the seams and border.  Otherwise those ends would be over 300!

Since I have to wait for the yarn I started a baby bib.  You can't see the pattern yet, but here it is so far:

I also managed to get an updated picture of Dave's socks this morning.  I haven't worked on them in a while, but the picture I showed last week was way out of date.

Anyone recognize the bag that my sock project is in?  It's my Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock box bag from Jessalu.

I love The Big Bang Theory and this bag is so cute.

It even has scientific fabric on the inside!

I really want another JessaLu box bag, but I can't decide!

I've linked up with Tami's Amis for WIP Wednesday!

WIP Wednesday - Shawl, Socks, and Baby Blanket

I have three different WIPs that I have been working on.  There's actually more, but they are snoozed on Ravelry, so I don't count them.

First up are Dave's socks.  I made him a pair a while ago, FO page here.  I decided to start him a second pair when I traded some yarn.  In a trade I received this:

I loved the blue, green, and brown together.  It is MacKintosh Celtic Sock in color Frog Pond.

I have more done of the socks, but this is the latest picture I have:

I'm actually almost to the heels.  These are the first socks that I'm doing two at a time on two circular needles.  I can see how easy it would be to do two at a time on one circular with magic loop as well.  Don't be afraid of socks!  They are really easy.

The next project I have been working on is for myself and it is the pattern Happy Street.  I am using Wollmeise yarn and Spacecadet yarn.  My ravelry project page is here.

I can't wait to finish this.  In the picture I was working on the 5th stripe out of 10.  Now I had just finihsed my 8th stripe.  I'm SO CLOSE!

I haven't been working on my Happy Street as much as I normally would because I'm working on a blanket for my soon to be nephew, Owen.  My sister really liked this baby blanket I made for her best friend's baby.  It was all over my blog last year as my Little Square Baby Blanket.

The theme to Owen's nursery is all around the bedding that my sister and her husband chose:

So these are the colors I chose for his little square blanket:

I'm using Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino yarn.  I have all 168 squares complete and I'm working on seaming the squares together.

I'm using the seam that is in this pattern, 124-1 Bohemian Oasis - Crochet blanket in ”Delight” and ”Fabel”.  I'm really trying to get this blanket done by the shower, which is August 11th.  I have about 25 days left!

For the first time in forever I actually have a WIP post, so I've linked up with Tami's Amis.

WIP Wednesday & Toby & Santa

Hmmm what to tell you about first....my WIP or Toby and Santa.

My WIP is still my Hue Shift Afghan for my dad.  I have more squares finished since the last time I showed you.

I am almost done with one big block (6x6 little blocks).

Now, onto Toby and Santa...I was at knit night last Thursday at the mall we call the Galleria and Santa was right behind us.  Someone spotted this sign:

I thought to myself that this is awesome.  I got home and looked at my cute and cuddly puppy and actually asked him, "Do you want to meet santa?"

This is how he looked at me:

Not sure what he meant, but I thought, "Great, we're going!"

After waiting in line and Toby getting super excited to see so many dogs, he finally got to meet Santa.  Let me warn you, it has a high cute factor.

He was even licking Santa's face at one point, but the camera lady needs quicker reflexes to capture these moments.

Hope you have all had a great week!!

WIP Wednesday

I'm still working on my dad's Hue Shift Afghan, I have 20 squares done now.  That means only 196 more to go!

Even though I haven't touched it in a while, I plan to though.  Here is the current status of my Linen Stitch Scarf:

I think I'll need about 10 more rows.  For me though that is 10 more hours of work.  Yes, one row takes me an hour.  In my defense it is 500 stitches across.

Also, I went to Pittsburgh Indie Knit and Spin over the weekend and this is my purchase which will become a Color Affection.

...and here's your regular scheduled Toby update.  I told you last week that he likes to sit with me and watch me knit and now I have a photo to prove it.

I've linked up with Tami's Amis.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

WIP - Wednesday

I told you a few times about my attempts to make my dad a blanket.

This is the yarn:

I attempted this pattern

and this pattern

Neither of them really made me want to make the blanket.  I wasn't excited to make it and that was not good.  My dad is 6'3", so really tall.  He asked that if I ever make him a blanket that it be big enough for him, meaning at least 60"x80".  I have to really like the pattern I'm going to do because that is huge!

Then I saw the Hue Shift Afghan.  I thought it was super cool and I really wanted to cast on right away.  That is the feeling I needed for this blanket.

I had to modify the pattern to be rectangular and to be the dimensions that I need.  This is my plan:

I have 15 squares done so far, but here is the picture with 14 complete.

I'm really excited for this pattern.  It is really the only thing I'm working on at the moment.  I really want to finish my Linen Stitch Scarf, but I'll have to do that slowly.  Also, I have another small project to show you on Friday!

I've linked up with Tami's Amis, Small Things, and Frontier Dreams.

...and I'll end with a super cute picture of my puppy, Toby.

He thinks the chair is now his seat.  Its not, its where I sit and knit and crochet and sometimes he's in my lap while I do those things.
