Color Lovers!! - Day 1 - 3KCBWDAY1

Hi everyone!

I'm really excited to participate in Knitting and Crocheting Blog Week 2012.  This is my first year and I actually did not have any time to prepare any posts at all.  I'm taking this day by day.

Today's prompt is:

Colour Lovers
Colour is one of our greatest expressions of ourselves when we choose to knit or crochet, so how do you choose what colours you buy and crochet or knit with. Have a look through your stash and see if there is a predominance of one colour. Do the same with your finished projects - do they match? Do you love a rainbow of bright hues, or more subdued tones. How much attention do you pay to the original colour that a garment is knit in when you see a pattern? Tell readers about your love or confusion over colour.

If you have been following my blog recently, then you know I love color.  I love bold saturated colors.

I am so close to being done with my ripple, by the way.

I love these little bright squares of color.  I can't wait to arrange them and put them together.

I have yet to find my perfect color in yarn yet.  To me it is a deep purple-y pink.  I have come close with

but just today, a fellow K&CBW participant posted my ultimate color.  It is the last picture in the post.  It just so happened to be her ultimate color too!!!

I love purples and pinks.

I also love turquoises and teals and blues.  I love saturated colors far more than pale colors.

Yellow and orange have always been scary colors for me, but I'm learning how to work with them.

Choosing a color palatte always depends on my mood.  Often, as I've said, they are bright saturated colors. I do have a couple projects where the colors are a bit more subdued and I still love them.

I love having color everywhere.  Are you the same?  I'm going to go looking for other blog week posts now!

Sam :-)

  2. I love your colors!!!
I also agree with your 'fear' of yellow and orange-- I can't wear them, so I avoid them!

  5. Lovely ripple! And lovely colours too, especially in the last picture! I'm with you on the saturated vs. pale colours, I love bright and bold far more than pale and faded.

  6. It's funny isn't it with yellows and oranges, I reckon a good few people would feel the same....I wonder why? I did a sunnyspread throw last year and the first square I made I used a burnt yellow cotton, I loved it but was wary, but hubby said no, so as I wasn't completely sure I didn't....I guess sometimes you need to get used to an idea first....and my sunnyspread was lovely in a pale White/lilac!

  8. Love that last picture. I also have a fear of yellow and orange, though the fear of orange might be related to the bright orange kitchen walls & tiles that were in our house when we first moved in.

  9. I'm quite a fan of orange and yellow but find purple and dark reds difficult, it's funny how these things go isn't it?
Your final project really shows those colours off to perfection.
