WIP Wednesday - My First Knitting Project

My first knitting project is a dishcloth.

What do you think?  Does it look okay?  Initially I was struggling with being really tight, but I pulled it out and started over with a different cast on.  Now that I'm looser, it is easier to stay that way.

Any tips would be helpful.

Don't forget to see all of the other WIPs over at Tami's Amis.

  1. It looks great :) Especially for a first knitting project, but it looks great in general.

If you are knitting too tightly, one thing I read when I started out stayed with me - you don't need to pull each stitch super tight after knitting it, knitting the next stitch will tighten it up. So unless you're loose and your tension is all over the place (which it doesn't look like yours is) then maybe relax a little bit and don't pull too tight.

  2. Your dishcloth is looking great, very neat stitches. My knitting can be tight, and I have to remind myself to keep relaxed, once I get on a roll/warmed up it gets better. If my hands are cold is also seems tight! Not very helpful but thats how it is for me!

  4. It looks awesome! You don't want a dishcloth too loosely knit - the sturdier the fabric the better :)

  6. Same problem here--new knitter, WAY too tight, driving me absolutely insane. Good luck!
