I mean seriously...wasn't it just Christmas?
I created a mosaic. I like having my month all summed up.
Technically this is everything in January I showed you. There are a few other items I finished last week that I haven't shown you yet. You'll have to wait until Friday.
As I look at the mosaic, it makes you think how much can change in a month. I've been tweaking my yarn for my Debbie Bliss ripple. I claimed this year was going to be all about me, but that has changed. When I gave my sister's future sister-in-law her baby blanket, her aunt really liked my work. She liked it so much she asked if I wanted a booth at this craft show she runs every November. Of course I said yes. So, the creativity has been brewing and I am FULL of excitement.

My Weekend Flew By!
Again my Monday posts seem to be "What I did over the weekend" posts. My dad asked if Dave and I wanted tickets to the Pitt basketball game Saturday. Of course we said yes. I'm a Pitt alum! Our seats were awesome!
Pitt was playing Georgetown and I have to admit I was nervous. Georgetown was ranked #10 and I have no idea what Pitt was ranked since they haven't been playing well. Look at the score close to half time!
I must say I think the student section has gotten a lot bigger since I was in school. Its HUGE!
Everyone was in their Oakland Zoo shirts and it wrapped three quarters of the way around the court. They are pretty funny, constantly jumping and a cheer for everything. They lead cheers far more than the cheerleaders, which makes me laugh.
We had a great time and we won!
Sunday, we were celebrating my cousin Emily's 6th birthday. Well Saturday night, I had the bright idea that I was going to make her a crochet animal. It took me a lot longer than I had anticipated. I worked on it from 9:30pm til 1:30am, then from 9:30am to 1:30pm. I was actually late for the party.
This is what I made:
I took all these pictures in my car when I got to my Grandma's house. This is how she was sitting next to me in the car.
I am so proud of the cat's face. I was so worried it would look horrible because honestly in my opinion the face can make it or break it. I like how it seems like its smiling.
Here's Emily with her cat. She decided to name her Rose.
She was playing with her a lot. I loved it. It made the late night worth it. When it was time to eat cake, Emily put Rose with her big sister who fell asleep on the couch. It was so cute.
I'm very happy with the cat. If I have any criticism it would be how I placed the arms and legs, the legs more than the arms, but Emily won't notice or mind.
Details:
Pattern: Amineko Crocheted Cat
Yarn: Vanna's Choice in Wildberry, Eggplant, and Silver Heather
Hook: 5.00mm H
This was the first crocheted toy I have made. I don't know if it is because I made it in two marathon sessions, but my hands and fingers hurt afterwards. I really didn't crochet Sunday evening because of that. Have you had that happen?
How was your weekend?
Sam :-)

FO Friday - My First Knitting Project
My knitted dishcloth is done!! It may look a little sloppy, but I'm proud of it.
The border is a little tighter than the middle, but I think I just need some more practice.
Here it is again on one of my tie-dyed blankets. (I didn't actually tie-dye it, I used to buy the tie-dyed cloths at concerts in high school and college. I guess they were meant to be wall hangings or something, but I turned them into tied blankets.)
What do you think? The cast on is a little loose and the bind off is a little tight, but I think that'll come with practice, right?
Don't forget to check out everyone's finished objects over at Tami's Amis.
ETA: I forgot the details!
Details:
Pattern: Raised Diamonds
Yarn: Lily Sugar n Cream in color Leaf, I probably used half a ball
Needles: Size 4.5 mm US 7
Size- about 9" square (approx 23 cm square)

WIP Wednesday - Dishcloth and My Ripple
My first knitting project is over halfway done.
My tension is still all over the place, but I'm trying to be consistent.
I have about 14 rows of my ripple done. Want to see?
I'm really loving this blanket. The colors are a little washed out in the photo, but it was the best I could do. I've actually kept up on weaving in the ends too! I'm surprised myself.
What are you working on? Don't forget to check out everyone else's WIPs over at Tami's Amis.
Sam :)

I Won a Blog Giveaway!
I never win anything, I swear! I guess aside from that time that I won bar bingo.
Mostly 1's I promise.
Anyhow, I entered in Crochet in Color's giveway. I thought both hats looked pretty awesome, but I had to lean towards the slouchy hat. I won the slouchy hat!
The hat came in and I had to take pictures of it right away.
I just had to try it on too! Just as an fyi, I wore my hair up today, so I had to take it out of a ponytail for this to look any good.
It is really hard to take pictures of yourself wearing a hat, trust me. I love this hat! Thank you so much Liz!

What did my weekend consist of?
Not much...
Chemo hit my bf pretty hard, so he was sick all weekend. I tried to clean up a bit around the apartment.
My dad bet me that we couldn't get our air mattress back into the box.
I sent him a picture message asking if almost counts:
I stopped over my parents house to pick up some homemade soup.
My dad made a TON of soup. This pot was a lot fuller before he distributed it out in containers for the family. I love his beef soup.
I tried to take a couple pictures of my dog, Georgie, while I was there, but he wasn't having any of it. This was the best I could do.
I organized a lot of my yarn this weekend. I took pictures and uploaded the info onto Ravelry.
This is the yarn that Heather got me for Christmas for our knitting class next month.
Isn't it pretty?! Did you see the brand?! She really spoiled me. Thanks again Heather!
I didn't realize how much King Cole Riot I have.
Ever since I made my Riot Ripple Scarf with it, I've loved it.
I have this yarn set aside for this pattern.
It is a really pretty navy with some purple tones in it.
I realized that I have a ton of cotton yarn. I have some Lily Sugar n Cream. Here's a sampling:
I have some Lion Brand cotton:
and I also have a TON of Knit Picks Dishie cotton yarn. Here's a small sample:
I used this yarn in Christmas colors to make ornaments this year.
I've rambled for a while now and that was my weekend in a nut shell. I managed to get about 14 rows of my ripple done and a couple more inches of my first knitting project. I'll show you progress pictures on Wednesday.
